Soundview Millworks focuses on high quality hand made products. We work with local mill shops and lumber yards to maximize their trimmings and shorts. Utilizing this material minimizes everyone’s waste. All processes and purchases are up to the strictest Forestry Stewardship Council Standards (FSC), and promote responsible management of the world's forests.

All Soundview Millworks cleat boards, carving boards, serving boards, cutting boards or wooden accessories are hand crafted in the United States to the highest standards. We start with the finest American maple and Santos mahogany, both known for their durability and tight grain pattern. Once the blank is created and assembled by hand it is slightly dampened with fresh water to raise the grain.

  When the wood grain is raised each board is finish-sanded by hand. After sanding the wood is coated with 100% natural tung oil, a natural nut oil that hardens in the pores of the wood and provides a durable and stain resistant cutting surface. When the board is dry it is rubbed with two coats of a mineral oil and bees wax combination to create a sealed and smooth finish.

Care of Your Board
While your nautical cleat board, carving board, serving board, cutting board or wooden accessory comes hand sealed, the continued application of mineral oil will help keep your boards sealed and looking great for years to come.

To clean your new  board simply rinse with warm, lightly soaped water and dry immediately. Apply mineral oil to keep the wood sealed and stop them from drying out. Soaking your wooden products in water or leaving them on wet surfaces will damage them.
